2017 Symposium Focus



Over the course of the Symposium, we'll examine the components of a crisis or trauma. This logical timeline will include information on what to do and how to do it.

The Symposium starts on Sunday afternoon, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Columbine High School with a debrief and optional tour of the High School, ending around 6:00 p.m. Afterward, we invite you to gather in the ballroom the Hampton Inn (7611 Shaffer Parkway, Littleton, CO 80127) to get to know each other, and enjoy a casual supper of pizza, salad, beverages and open bar.

The Symposium will be held at Columbine High School.

Monday, July 10, doors open at 7:30 a.m. and a light breakfast will be available before sessions open at 8:30. Lunch will be catered, and afternoon sessions end around 5:00.

Among the speakers: Dr. John Nicoletti (Nicoletti-Flater Associates), Dr. Jay Findling (Director of Emergency Readiness, Safety, and Security, NYC Department of Education, Office of Safety and Youth Development)

On Tuesday, July 11, the morning starts at 8:00 with a ceremony at the Columbine Memorial in Clement Park (adjacent to the High School). This will be a short ceremony and remembrance of why we do what we do. This is optional and lasts about 30 minutes, after which we reconvene at the high school for the day's sessions.
If you choose not to attend, the doors open Columbine HS at 8:00 for check-in and a light breakfast. Sessions open at 9:00. 
Lunch will be catered, and afternoon sessions end around 5:00.

Wednesday is a Reunification training and hands-on exercise.
Doors open at 8:00, with a light breakfast and catered lunch provided, with sessions ending around 5:00. 
Topics: Standard Reunification Method Advanced Trainer Workshop. This is the SRP/SRM Basic Seminar, plus a tabletop exercise and practical exercise are conducted. Participants are provided the tools to conduct these exercises.
Among the speakers: John-Michael Keyes (Executive Director, The I Love U Guys Foundation), Pat Hamilton (Chief Operating Officer, Adams 12 Five Star Schools).


On Sunday evening  at 6:00 p.m., after the debriefing held at Columbine, we invite you to a reception in the ballroom at the Hampton Inn, with pizza, salad, beverages and open bar.

Monday after the sessions, please join us at nearby Roberts Italian Restaurant, 6745 W. Ken Caryl Ave., Littleton, for complimentary appetizers and a chance to speak with other attendees and the day's presenters.

Tuesday evening, we invite you to join us at Rox Bar and Grill, 12684 W. Indore Place, Littleton for another opportunity to socialize with others and the day's presenters. Complimentary hors d'ouevres will be served. 


Participants attending at least 20 hours of sessions will gain the skills and knowledge they need to bring the SRP and SRM programs back to their districts and agencies. Participants will receive a certificate of training online after the Symposium.

Continuing Education Credits are available for educators. For Counselors or Social Workers there are 20 hours of coursework available. 

All content is Colorado POST certified. Please contact us for out-of-state POST credits.

Thursday: Certified Trainer Class

To become a Certified Trainer for the SRP and SRM, attendance is required on both Wednesday and Thursday. The normal cost for this is $300, but during the Symposium, the training certification can be obtained for $200. If a person attends the prior days of the Symposium, additional cost for Thursday is $100. Please submit an inquiry in the fields below. Please notify us if you will be attending on Thursday.
